Dr. Robert A. Hanna is a registered professional engineer in the provinces of Ontario and Alberta and a designated consulting engineer. He is Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), UK, and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC). He is the recipient of 2020 prestigious McNaughton award from IEEE Canada “For Contributions to Industry at Large and the Electrical Engineering Profession”. He was President of IEEE Canada and IEEE Director (Region 7) in 2006 and 2007.
In the past 45 years, Dr. Hanna has been actively engaged in all aspects of electrical design work, complex power quality investigations, UPS/emergency generator installations, due diligence studies, renewable energy, electric storage facilitities and adjustable speed drives (ASDs) applications covering over 100 installations for over 75 clients. The work conducted in these areas has resulted in over 100 technical company reports, 45 technical papers – mostly published in IEEE Industry Applications Society Transactions and PCIC Conferences. He is frequently retained as a senior consultant to provide unique technical expertise on complex, non-conventional, multimillion dollars projects for large industrial customers and consulting firms. In many cases, he is retained as a single source to conduct plant wide investigation into complex problems that others were unable to deliver. His success rate has been excellent in determining the root cause of these electrical equipment malfunction and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Dr. Hanna has provided consulting services in six continents and most recently in China. Dr. Hanna was selected by “People to People Ambassador Programs” based in Seattle, Washington as a technical delegatation leader and in October 2010 led an international delegation in the field of renewable energy to India and met with industry representatives, government officials and utilities.
